About the Association

IAME currently has a membership of over 300 individual members from all continents and more than 10 corporate members. IAME organizes annual conferences hosted by different institutions each year and occasionally also endorses other conferences that are in line with the aims of the Association. The Association is officially linked to two leading academic journals in the field: Maritime Policy & Management and Maritime Economics & Logistics. IAME publishes a Newsletter at regular intervals for its members containing a wide range of news items related to upcoming events, publications, ongoing research, etc.

IAME has signed MοUs with the International Maritime Statistics Forum (IMSF) and Korea Association of Marine Industry (KAMI, formerly MITO). The Association and its members have good contacts with a large number of public organizations such as the United Nations and IMO, other associations and private companies in the maritime field. The IAME Constitution guides the internal working of the organization with the Council, the Permanent Secretariat and the General and Extraordinary General Meetings playing a key role.

The International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME) was founded in 1992. What initially started as a small venture has since then developed into a truly international association.
